The Williams-Grand Canyon News offers two types of death notices: free notices with basic information and more complete paid obituaries. Information for death notices will only be accepted from an established funeral home by e-mail at editorial@williamsnews.com.
Obituaries placed by private parties and funeral homes must be paid in advance. Local funeral homes can be billed if they have an established account with The Williams-Grand Canyon News
Without photo: $125.00
With photo: $150.00
Longer obituaries (More than 350 words) may incur additional charges.
Death Notice (from mortuary): no charge
1. Death Notices: Obituary Notices are published free of charge one time only. Notices will be printed in lieu of a paid obituary announcement if requested. These brief notices provide basic streamlined information to include name of deceased; address (city only); age and date of birth; birthplace; date and place of death; and service/burial information only. No pictures are included in this free service. Obituary notices are presented on the same page as the larger paid obituary notices, and the information must be supplied directly from the funeral home.
2. Paid Obituaries: Paid Obituaries contain more details. Obituary announcements appear in the newspaper in a more traditional column format. These announcements can provide much more information than the free Obituary Notice, including a photo. Details can include, but are not limited to: name of deceased; address (city only); age and date of birth; birthplace; date and place of death; years resided in the area; profession or occupation; civic/professional/church affiliations and offices held; noteworthy achievements/contributions to community; survivors' names and immediate family (spouse, children, parents, brothers, sisters); number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; service/burial information and arrangements. Our editorial staff will generally not edit the material received from the funeral homes but may edit for spelling and appropriateness. Proofs are not provided. Obituary announcements will not publish until billing and funeral information has been received and verified. The basic rate to print 350 words or less in one issue of the Williams-Grand Canyon News, and to be included on our website obituary page, is $125 without a photo and $150 with a photo. Obituaries that are unusually long may incur additional charges. Photos may be brought into the office at 118 S. 3rd St, Williams, AZ 86046 to be scanned, or can be emailed along with the obituary. Emailed photos should be in either a jpg or pdf format with a dpi of 300. Photos can be resized and cropped if needed. Color photos will be converted to black and white for the printed edition.
You may include a photo. The photo can be retrieved from the Williams-Grand Canyon News after the announcement has appeared in the paper. Photos submitted by e-mail should be in JPEG format in at least 300 dpi. All obituaries are printed in black and white only.
Submissions must include contact information of person providing the information for the obituary, daytime phone numbers and/or email address. Once total cost has been established, call 928-635-4426 ext. 3605 or ext. 3613 to pay with credit or debit card. For additional information, contact the editorial department of the Williams-Grand Canyon News at (928) 635-4426, ext. 3609 or 3605, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Please note the Williams-Grand Canyon News will only run death notices and/or obituaries if the death occurred within the past three months.
