The Coconino County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning following reports of phone scams targeting local residents. Concerned citizens have contacted authorities reporting instances where callers claim to be affiliated with the Coconino County Sheriff's Office or another law enforcement agency.
In 2015, the city completed the drilling of the Sweetwater Well in response to the failure of one of the Dogtown wells that coincided with drought and low reservoir water. The city spent $4.5 million drilling the Sweetwater Well and nearly $2 million to resuscitate the Dogtown 1 well. Afterward, however, the Sweetwater Well was never completed and placed into the city’s water system.

Following the retirement of Supervisor Matt Ryan in December, residents of Coconino County's District 3 have welcomed a new representative. Adam Hess took office Jan. 11 as the newest member of the Coconino County Board of Supervisors, tasked with representing the southwestern region of Coconino County. New additions are in store at the H.A. Clark Memorial Field in Williams. In the last three years, the city of Williams has seen a significant increase in airport activity and interest, with requests for additional airplane hangars. Currently, the airport has 10 T-hangars, 15 tie-downs and a waiting list in excess of 60 and growing.
