Senior Spotlight: Kai Mortensen
Kai Mortensen is a senior at Williams High School (WHS). She has attended school in Williams since kindergarten. In high school, Kai has participated in 4-H and played several sports.
Some of her favorite memories included playing in two softball championships.
“The most memorable part (of high school) was winning state 2021 for softball, and then again this past year in 2023,” Kai said. “Even volleyball last year. We ended up falling short, we were runners up, but that was definitely a core memory.”
Kai’s influences and inspirations include all the coaches she’s had for volleyball, basketball and softball both at WHS and in club sports. Phillip “Eche” Echeverria was one of the people Kai mentioned.
“Even if you didn’t have (him as) a coach, he was definitely a big influential person,” Kai said.
In her downtime, Kai enjoys activities outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
After graduation, Kai plans on attending a university to study business and continue playing softball. She plans on going to cosmetology school and hopes to open her own shop.
