Summer Rec program returns to Williams June 5
WILLIAMS, Ariz. — Williams’ Summer Rec program begins June 5 at the Williams Recreation Center, 300 W. Railroad Avenue.
The Summer Rec Program is for children ages 6-13 and takes place Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In past years, the Summer Rec Program has averaged around 85-100 children each day in the summer.
During the seven-week program, children enjoy swimming, basketball, tetherball, badminton, foursquare, hula-hoops, jump ropes, play board games and planned outings and events. Participants also enjoy crafts and play games like bingo.
The daily cost per child is $5 and on field trip days, an additional fee is charged to cover the expenses associated with the outing. For the entire two-month program, the total cost is $245. This fee covers breakfast, lunch and a snack. Scholarships are available.
Parents can register their children one time and then bring them to the Rec Center five days a week.
Registration will remain open throughout the season. Parents may stop by the Recreation Center for a packet and registration information.
“I think it’s a good program for the youth because it gives the kids something to do in the summer,” said Williams Parks and Recreation Director Sylvia Lopez. “It’s kind of like babysitting for the parents if they have nowhere else to go, and we’re way cheaper than a babysitter. It’s just something fun for the kids to do to keep them interactive through the summer,”
