Davante Adams Posts Cryptic Reaction to Raiders' Garoppolo Signing

The wide receiver is signed in Las Vegas for another four years. The Raiders are set to acquire their new starting quarterback, agreeing to terms with Jimmy Garoppolo on a three-year deal to reunite him with Josh McDaniels. However, not everyone with the team seems happy about the move. Wide Receiver Davante Adams, who was traded to Las Vegas last year in part because he wanted to play with Derek Carr, posted a cryptic message on Instagram potentially hinting at his disapproval of the move—or at least a lack of desire to discuss it with just anyone. “If we haven’t talked in three weeks don’t hit me about this s---. Thanks,” he wrote on his Instagram Story, which has since been deleted. Adams’s relationship with Carr dates back to their time at Fresno State together, and the wide receiver was very excited to play together again last year. However, Adams does not have a relationship with Garoppolo so he will have to build that up throughout the year. The Raiders signed Adams to a five-year extension worth $140 million last offseason, so the wide receiver is tied to Las Vegas through the 2026 season. Last year, Adams totaled 1,516 receiving yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns on his way to a sixth straight Pro Bowl appearance and a third-straight first-team All Pro selection. It is also possible that Adams was reacting to the Aaron Rodgers saga, as those two played together for seven years in Green Bay. Rodgers at one point was rumored to land in Las Vegas to replace Carr, but the Garoppolo news seems to have ended that speculation. However, Adams later clarified his post on Twitter, saying it had nothing to do with football. “Don’t make too much of it…phone dry then here comes everybody tryna get the inside scoop,” he said. “Jimmy let’s get this.”
