Letter to the Editor: Concern about our forests and mining
As for Drake’s comment that they will cause no harm to the land, take a look at what they did on FS road 74. They fenced in 50 acres or so, hauled in all kinds of mining equipment, tore out 20-30 acres of the trees, made a mess, ruined the area then pulled out all their equipment. I stated this a month or so back in their public comments Facebook posts, can’t find it now though.
Lived here 17 years now. Have watched the Forest Service tear out hundreds, if not thousands of acres of junipers. The forest office manager said it was in an attempt to bring the water table back. It was really to clear more land for ranchers, oh and it chased the elk out. Don’t trust the forest service, or Drake.
