GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. —Grand Canyon Conservancy, the official non-profit partner of Grand Canyon National Park is hosting its annual Celebration of Art at Grand Canyon National Park.

Visitors to the park had an opportunity to view artists painting “en plein air” (outside on location) on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon this weel.

“Celebration of Art is a wonderful tradition at Grand Canyon National Park, providing a vibrant experience for visitors, a venue for artists inspired by the canyon, and a successful fundraiser to benefit a dedicated art venue at the park,” the conservancy stated.

The celebration, now in its 14th year, began with the publication of its online catalog Aug. 2, followed by an online silent auction Sept. 2-17.

Following the plein air event, Kolb Studio will now host an exhibition and sale both online and in person through Jan. 16.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward a fund to establish a dedicated art venue at the South Rim.

“Art plays a critical role in the appreciation of our national parks, and this event helps to keep the artistic tradition part of the Grand Canyon experience,” the conservancy stated.

Founded in 2009,

Celebration of Art invites participating artists to paint for a week at the South Rim of Grand Canyon. Artists are tasked with capturing the ever-changing colors and light as the sun moves across the intricate layers of the canyon. Paintings produced during this special event are shared with the public during a four-month sale and exhibition online and at Historic Kolb Studio.
