Matt Yost named interim supe at Grand Canyon School
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. —The Grand Canyon Unified School Governing Board meeting Feb. 23 approved the appointment of Matthew (Matt) Yost as the Interim District Superintendent until June 30, 2023.
In the mentoring and succession-planning process with former superintendent, the late Dr. Shonny Bria, Yost held several positions in the district as he was being groomed for the superintendent position. These positions included assistant superintendent, business manager and principal.
Yost has also served as athletic director, food service manager and CTE culinary arts teacher.
Since he began working at Grand Canyon School in 1996, Yost has built strong relationships with students, teachers, staff, parents and community members.
Yost will continue to fulfill his passion of creating an educational environment in which all participants can learn and develop to their highest potential, according to GCUSD.
The district is now recruiting for an interim principal to serve in that capacity until June 30, 2023.
