Tempe, Ariz. — The Williams Vikings baseball team gave the St. David Tigers some competition, but it wasn't enough to overcome the No. 1 seed, who went on to beat the Vikings 9-5 in the 1A State semifinals May 14.

The Tigers scored early, but the Vikings came back to take a 2-1 lead at the bottom of the second.

St. David got on top 3-2 at the top of the third, then increased their lead through the game to take the win.

The Vikings finished the season 14-4, 8-2 and ranked No. 5 in the 1A Conference.

St. David went on to beat No. 3 Ray, 9-5 in the state championship game.
