Matt Sterbenz wins people’s choice at 2020 Celebration of Art at South Rim
Artwork remains for sale online
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. — Grand Canyon Conservancy, the official nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park, has announced the award winners from the 12th Annual Celebration of Art at Grand Canyon National Park.
A combination juried and invitational event, Celebration of Art presented three awards to artists.
The People’s Choice Award was presented to Matt Sterbenz. This award is voted on by an online auction audience.
The Artists’ Choice Award, presented by Plein Air Magazine was presented to Bill Cramer.
This award is chosen by the participating artists for the artist who embodies the spirit of the event, combined with effort, skill and creativity.
Best of Show, presented by Fine Art Connoisseur was presented to Elizabeth Black.
This award was chosen by Master Juror Joshua Rose, of Santa Fe Art Auctions, for the body of work each artist has produced for the event.
Each winning artist received a cash prize as well as an invitation to return to the event next year.
This year’s Celebration of Art transitioned to a mostly online event because of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a much-reduced on-site presence. An online auction, Intent to Purchase drawing, private collector appointments at Kolb Studio, as well as two artist Paint Outs at the South Rim raised money towards a dedicated arts venue and art programming at Grand Canyon National Park.
Works from this year’s participating artists are now available for purchase online at shop.grandcanyon.org. New pieces are added on a regular basis. If you would like to get to know more about the artists and view photos and videos from this year’s event, visit the GCC YouTube channel.
