SAVE-MTR teams up with Amazon Smile to help animals in need

Amazon Smile is a simple and automatic way for people to support their favorite charitable organization every time they shop, at no cost to the person. Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to SAVE-MTR if you go to Amazon Smile and follow directions on how to create the account. When asked to choose your charity type, type in SAVE-MTR and you will automatically be directed to the site.

Monthly prayer breakfast

The Women of Wiliams are meeting the last Friday of every month for a prayer breakfast. This month the meeting will take place Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. at the Wild West Junction, 321 E. Route 66, Williams. Men’s prayer time

A men’s prayer time is scheduled every Thursday morning at 7 a.m. at Hope for the World, 117 W. Route 66, Suite 125, Williams. This is open to all men in the community. More information is available by contacting Aaron Silverstein at (928) 225-1323.

Thanksgiving feast at American Legion

The American Legion invites people to join them for Thanksgiving at the American Legion Cordova Post 13. Food will be served at noon.

Holiday Transfer Station Hours

The Williams Transfer Station will close Nov. 24 and 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. All residential pickups will be picked up on Nov. 23. More information can be found by calling the transfer station at (928) 635-9108.

Navajo Taco sale

The Parents Who Care Committee is sponsoring a Navajo Taco Sale Friday, Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Williams Elementary Middle School Cafeteria. Tacos are $8 and soda is $1. Please come out and support our Senior Grad night and enjoy some delicious tacos with friends and family.

VFW wreath sale

The VFW Auxiliary to Matthew James Broehm Post 12128 is selling wreath sponsorships. Wreaths Across America allows individuals and businesses to buy sponsorships of live wreaths to be layed on Veterans’ graves in national cemeteries. The auxiliary chose Prescott National Cemetery for wreaths to be laid at, taking place De. 17. Wreaths cost $15 each or if you buy two the auxiliary gets one free (One for $15 or three for $30). The auxiliary will have a table set up at the Craft Fair Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or contact auxiliary members at (928) 225-0931.

Children needed for Community Christmas Nativity Pageant

Organizers are searching for angels and shepherds for the the Community Christmas Nativity Pageant to be held Dec. 23 at 6:30pm.

The project will only involve one rehearsal to learn two songs. There will be one costume making party, and a final dress rehearsal. Sign-up is required. More information can be found by calling Kerry-Lynn Moede at 602-818-6559 or JDMoede@aol.com

Host families sought for international students

Open your heart and your home to begin your international adventure today! An informational meeting will be held Nov. 17 from 6 to 7 pm at Café 326 in the lounge.

Becoming a host family in Arizona begins with contacting CETUSA manager Sharon Peters by emailing Sharon@cetusa.org or by calling 928-530-6547. The local coordinator for Coconino County is Deb Fleishman 928-853-2345. CETUSA works with families with children, couples, empty nesters, or single households. All interested families must complete a screening process and then will be able to select a CETUSA student to join their family.

Addresses needed for service men and women

Christmas is just around the corner and ESA is once again seeking addresses for the local servicemen and women. Box packing is planned for Nov. 29 — all addresses are needed prior to that date. ESA members know that service personnel are transferred all the time, and would appreciate a call even if the address has not changed. SAVE - MTR enchilada fundraiser

Save-MTR enchilda fundraiser will take orders until Nov. 21. Pick up date is Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sultana Theater. Cost is $10/dozen. Specify cheese or cheese and onion. Parade of Lights in downtown Williams Nov. 26

A Parade of Lights celebrating ‘The Story of Christmas’ will take place in downtown Williams Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. on Historic Route 66.

All entries should be received no later than Nov. 11.

Pick up applications at city offices, Visitor Center or Williams News office.

Community Christmas Nativity Pageant Dec. 23 - update

First choir rehearsal Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. in the high school band room.

All singers welcome, adult and students together. Beverly Stearns will direct the music.

Other organizational meetings are taking place for the first annual Community Christmas Nativity Pageant Dec. 23. The group is seeking musicians, kids for angels, shepards, choir members, and set builders. They also need people for lighting, sound, food and drinks. There is something for everyone to do. Holiday Craft Show Nov. 26

The 13th Annual Holiday Craft Show takes place Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sultana Theater, 301 W. Rt. 66. There will be 30 vendors with a variety of special gifts for the Holiday Season and every other occasion as well. Pictures will be taken again this year with your pets, family and friends. The craft fair will be dedicated to Jennie Ziegler who was in the show since the first year.

Monday and Thursday Night football at American Legion

The American Legion Cordova Post 13, located at 425 W. Grant Ave., will host Monday and Thursday night football viewing. There will be different food selections and drink specials each night. VFW Auxiliary Raffle

The Williams VFW Auxiliary Post 12128 will be hosting its annual raffle from now through Dec. 7. Prizes include a Kitchenaid stand mixer and a collection of linens. Big Buck contest

A Big Buck contest and raffle is open to all units south of Grand Canyon. The hunter to score the widest buck (outside to outside) will win a PSE Brute Force Bow with a full package. The contest ends January 31, 2017 and the drawing for a Ruger American rifle in 22-25 caliber takes place Feb. 1 at the Outdoor Store located at the corner of West Route 66 and Fourth Street.
