What is your most popular dish?
Our super burrito is the most popular. Its a giant burrito. People get a kick out of it and take pictures. It has carnitas, grilled chicken, or beef and homemade beans, rice, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and tomatoes inside. On top it has our red sauce with melted cheese and sour cream on the side. It has something like the kitchen sink inside it.
What do you recommend besides that?
We recommend the combinations so they can try one of each. We have several combinations. We have tacos, taquitos, chile rellenos, tamales, mini burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas in differnt combinations.
What do you recommend for dessert?
People love our flan. Its homemade. I get tired of making it because it goes so fast. I make 20 and they're gone. Its like a vanilla custard with a caramel taste. Its a real Mexican dessert. It has a cinnamon, vanilla, caramel taste all mixed together.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is making sure our customers leave with a smile on their face. I don't have a lot of time to come out, but when I get a chance to talk to them and they give me so many compliments. I really like when they stop at the kitchen and leave happy.
What is your background?
I have been in the restaurant business since I was 13 years old. My father owned a restaurant and my mother was the best cook and her mom too. I also was a district manager for 14 restaurants in Riverside, California so I know a lot about food.
What is the weirdest request you've gotten recently?
We have a meal called Steak Ranchero and we put bell peppers, tomato, jalapenos and onions in it and cover it with ranchera sauce. The customer wanted me to make the order and put a couple packets of sugar on it. I had to come out and make sure that was what they wanted. We thought they were kidding but they ate the whole thing.
