Letter: More car shows wanted in Williams
To the editor:
I think somebody tried to "jinx" this car show with the wind. Regardless, it went off very well.
There must have been at least 65 registered participants, as well as the ones who just showed up at the event.
From my observation, it was a great first Historic Route 66 Car Show. It appeared to be well organized and the business community and residents seemed to support it. I wouldn't be surprised if several participants were Williams residents.
After all, we have some beautiful cars in the vicinity and residents do take advantage of the opportunity to display them.
I thank Josie Bustillos, Mike Bessler and Mike Cowen, as the organizing committee, and the members of the Williams American Legion Cordova Post NO. 13 should all be commended for doing such a great job. They took on this event, not knowing what the financial outcome would be, but had faith in the value of car shows.
It is so important to have cooperation from an organization in the community for any event to be successful, and have the volunteers and recognition from the community as a community event.
Let's have more car shows!
