Memorial Softball Tournament May 28-29

Friends of Chance Grantham, Matthew Dent and Kyle Johnson are hosting a weekend softball tournament, homerun derby and horseshoe tournament May 28-29 to raise money for the Williams High School athletic programs. Pancake breakfast May 28 to benefit Fire Department

The Sherwood Forest Estates Fire Department Auxiliary will put on its annual Memorial weekend fundraiser pancake breakfast May 28.

Breakfast will be served from 8-10 a.m. and donations are accepted. A 50-50 raffle will be held and t-shirts are available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the fire department.

Directions: take I-40 exit 171, back east one mile to the Sherwood Forest Road, then right three miles to the fire house at 450 S. Little John Rd.

Dedication ceremony May 28 at Aquatic Center

On May 28, there will be a tree dedication ceremony honoring Edie Phillips at 1 p.m. in front of the Williams Aquatic Center. The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center purchased the tree and had it planted last fall. The Williams Lions Club purchased the plaque. Edie, a light to all of us who knew her, was the treasurer of the Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center and secretary/treasurer for the Lions Club for many years; also president for one year. She was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church in Williams. She volunteered in many other organizations and supported many charities. Whatever Edie did, she gave one hundred percent and more. Please join us in honoring her at this occasion.

VFW placing memorial wreath at Monument Park May 29

The VFW Auxiliary Matthew James Broehm Post 12128 will place a memorial wreath on the veteran statue in Monument Park with the VFW Honor Guard May 29 at 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Parks 4th of July parade entries available

Entry forms for the annual 4th of July parade in Parks are now available at the Park's Feed and Mercantile and the Park's Pine Country store. Deadline for entries is June 27. Vacation Bible School June 6-10

Host families needed for exchange students

CETUSA is looking for exchange student host families. All interested families must complete a screening process and then will be able to select a CETUSA student to join their family. An informational meeting takes place June 8 from 6 - 7 p.m. at Cafe 326 in the new lounge.

Junior Golf Program

Elephant Rocks Golf Course is offering a Junior Golf Program from children 13 years and younger. The $100 program fee includes four matches, practice privileges, practice rounds, PGA instruction and a team jersey. Williams High School graduation is 7 p.m. May 29 at the WHS gymnasium.

SAVE-Meant to Rescue monthly meetings first Wednesday of every month

SAVE-Meant to Rescue monthly meetings take place the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at Walker Hall, located next to St. John's Episcopal-Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grant Ave., Williams. All are welcome.

VFW Auxiliary raffle

The VFW Auxiliary Matthew James Broehm Post 12128 is raffling a STILH MS250 chain saw with an 18-inch bar. The chainsaw raffle is July 4, winners do not need to be present to win. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Tickets are available from any VFW Auxiliary member or by calling (928) 225-0931.

Williams Child Abuse Prevention Council

The Williams Child Abuse Prevention Council is gathering information for the second printing of the Williams Area Community Resource Guide. The deadline is May 31. Each service listed will also be given a copy of the guide. The guide is a resource guide of services available in the community for when individuals or families are facing difficult times. AYSO Soccer sign ups now through June 30

Registration for Williams AYSO soccer has begun. Cost is $85 and includes a uniform. Practices begin end of May. Play continues through the end of Sept. Parents can register at www.AYSO.org Flagstaff/Williams region. More information is available by emailing Susie Daly at dalysd7875@yahoo.com.

American Legion Engraved Bricks

The American Legion is selling engraved bricks for the Veterans Memorial in Williams. Each brick will have the serviceman's name, rank, unit and dates of services engraved. 144 bricks have been purchased and engraved, 32 more are needed to complete the project. Applications can be picked up at City Hall or the American Legion or by calling (928) 635-4447.

Wednesday Weight Watchers

Meetings are held on Wednesdays. Weigh in and sign up is from 5:30-6 p.m. with the meeting from 6 -6:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend. More information is available by calling (602) 248-0303.

Williams Fire Dept. 15th Annual Golf Tournament

Williams Fire Department is accepting applications for the four-man scramble golf tournament to be held June 4 at 8 a.m. Money raised will go towards fire prevention items. 2016 Dog Licenses Available

Dog licenses are now available for pets within city limits. They can be purchased for $5 until March. 31 and $10 after April 1 for spayed/neutered dogs. Cost is $25 for unaltered dogs. Licenses are available at the Police Dept. and City Hall.

Skids available at Williams Transfer Station

The Williams Transfer Station now has large skids available for use. More information and rates can be found by calling (928) 635-4451.

Rotary Club offers yard cleanup help

Williams Rotary Club is seeking elderly or needy home owners who need assistance with yard work, painting or minor repairs. Anyone needing help or wanting to volunteer can call Kris Williams at (928) 310-6287.

Big Brothers Big Sisters in Williams needs adults

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff is once again matching student "littles" with adult "bigs" in Williams. The group meets every Thursday at Williams Elementary-Middle School from 3:45-5:45 p.m. Students are waiting to be matched with an adult. Williams Kiwanis Club seeking food bank donations

The Kiwanis Club is seeking items needed at the food bank. The food bank needs canned vegetables, diapers, laundry detergent, toilet paper, tissues, hand soap, toiletries, peanut butter, canned beans, canned fruit, canned tuna/salmon and cereal.
