Williams Unified School District selects January Students of the Month
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Administrators and teachers at Williams Unified School District recently announced the January Students and Staff of the Month.
Kindergarten
The January Student of the Month for kindergarten is Pax Offner. His teacher said Pax always comes to school with a great attitude. He works hard and she can always count on his critical thinking skills to move their discussions along. He is a good friend to everyone in the class and always tries to do the right thing.
First Grade
Janis Palma is the first grade Student of the Month. Her teacher said Janis is very helpful in class. She often helps other students and her teacher in class. She is a wonderful friend to her peers and she works hard in class every day. Her teacher is very proud of her.
Second Grade
Alex Ortiz has been selected as the second grade Student of the Month. His teacher said he is always respectful and kind to others. She said he has shown a lot of growth since the beginning of the year. He is eager to participate and share good ideas with the class. He works hard to follow directions and maintains focus during class time.
Third Grade
Geneva Fairley has been selected as the third grade Student of the Month. Her teacher said Geneva is a great friend to others and respectful at all times. She has true leadership qualities, as everyone saw in the recent Christmas play. She can be counted on to be doing what she is asked to do and always to the best of her ability. Geneva is a conscientious girl and takes her work seriously. Her teacher is very happy to have her in my class. She makes her proud.
Fourth Grade
The fourth grade Student of the Month is Luis Rojas Cabrera. Luis' teacher said he is always eager to do his work and to help out his classmates. His teacher is so thankful to have him in class and for making good choices. He is always looking on the positive side of things and is a good friend to all.
Fifth Grade
Ethan Michelena has been selected as the fifth grade Student of the Month. His teacher said he is always striving to try harder and do better. He is working at being a genuine class model and always keeps the class in check when things are a little out of hand. He brings a smile to their faces and knows more about Legos than his teacher could express.
Middle School
Dakota Dent is the female middle school student of the month. Her teachers say she is a standout sixth grade student. In just her first semester of middle school she made the honor roll. Her teachers describe her as someone who always puts out a good effort and is a joy to have in class. They say she is simply an all-around great student.
Ethan Long is the male middle school Student of the Month. Ethan is a sixth grader who loves to read. His teachers say he has made great progress in his first semester of middle school, improving upon his study habits and homework submissions. His teachers describe him as being well-liked by his peers and being a positive role model for others. Always respectful and polite, Ethan earned an Example of Excellence distinction on his report card for the first semester.
High School
Nancy Leon is the female high school student of the month. Her teachers say she is tenacious about learning. They say her good grades reflect her desire to gain new knowledge. She appreciates the opportunity to grow as a student and always helps out her fellow classmates to understand the concepts or tackling problems. She is kind, generous and hardworking she also serves in the leadership at the high school. Students look up to her for guidance and direction. Nancy is respectful to her teachers and her smile is infectious. She is most deserving of student of the month.
Carston Brinkworth is the male high school Student of the Month. His nominating teacher said he puts forth consistent effort in all of his projects, assignments and tests. He has assisted her with cleanup in the classroom as well as projects after school such as the wildcat head for the bon-fire. He also is helpful to his peers and has taken it upon himself to encourage a classmate who is often discouraged, distracted and behind. He is a fantastic asset to her room.
Staff
James Powers is the WUSD staff of the month. His peers nominated Mr. Powers and say he is an incredible asset to the Williams schools. He possesses an innate sense of how to accommodate student needs academic or otherwise and he works tirelessly to attend to those needs. James has a great rapport with students. He often shares words of encouragement and counsels his coworkers during tough times. Quite simply Mr. Powers has been given the skills necessary to move forward with pride. He is an indispensable member of this learning community and we are grateful for his commitment to our youth.
