Heritage Harvest Fest Oct. 23

Heritage School is having a harvest festival on Oct. 23 from 5-7 p.m. at the school. There will be games, prizes and a cake walk. Tickets are 25 cents. Cake donations are being accepted. For more information call (928)635-3998.

Adult Basketball every Wednesday

Open Gym on Thursdays

City of Williams and Williams School District are sponsoring an open gym for 8th grade and younger at WEMS on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. when school is in session. Pet blessing Oct. 24

St. Johns' Episcopal-Lutheran church and SAVE. Meant to Rescue are sponsoring a Blessing of the Animals Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at Wild West Junction.

Ladies handgun safety training class Oct. 24

The Williams Sportsman's Club is putting on a ladies handgun safety class takes place Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. at the Williams Police Department with range training at 1 p.m. at the Williams shooting Range.

TOPS Chapter 0541

TOPS Chapter 0541meets Thursdays (there will be no meetings the 3rd Thursday of each month until further notice) at the conference room of the Williams North Country Health Care Center, 301 South 7th Street, Williams. 2015 Williams Fire Dept Big Buck Contest

Williams Fire Department is having a fundraising Big Buck Contest. Proceeds go towards fire prevention programs. Eligible hunters are general rifle and October junior rifle deer. VFW Auxiliary selling balloons

The VFW Auxilary for Matthew James Broehm Post 12128 will be selling balloons in honor of veterans. The Auxilary will have a table set up at the National Bank of Arizona in Williams Oct. 23 and Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will be honoring veterans who have passed away with white balloons, current military with red balloons and all other veterans with blue balloons. Tags will be placed on the balloons, which will be released Nov. 11 at the memorial in Monument Park at 5 p.m.

Caviat Campus Ribbon Cutting Oct. 28

CAVIAT - Coconino Association for Vocations, Industry and Technology is having a ribbon cutting at the Central Campus in Williams Oct 28 at 5 p.m. There will be tours and refreshments.

VFW Auxiliary Wreaths Across America sponsorships

The VFW Auxiliary Matthew James Broehm Post 12128 will be selling Wreaths Across America sponsorships The wreaths are $15 for one. If two wreaths are purchased, a third wreath is donated.

The VFW Auxiliary will help with the laying of the wreaths at the National Cemetery in Prescott Dec. 12.

Wreath sponsorships can be purchased from any Auxiliary member or by calling (928) 225-0931. A table will be set up at the National Bank of Arizona in Williams Oct. 9 and 23 and Nov. 6. Sponsorships must be paid at that time.

"A Night to Remember" Costume Gala and Show Dec. 5

Grand Canyon Renaissance Experience is putting on a costume gala, dinner show and community presentation Dec. 5 from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $30 for a couple, $16 for singles with advanced purchase.

Big Buck Contest

A Big Buck contest and raffle is open to all units south of Grand Canyon. The hunter to score the widest buck (outside to outside) will win a PSE Surge Bow with full package.

The contest ends Jan. 31, 2016 and the drawing takes place Feb. 1 at The Outdoor Store.

Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support group meets the second Sunday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Williams Health Care Center.

Williams High School Athletics Towel Drive

The Kiwanis Club of Williams is collecting towels to donate to the high school. Towels may be given to Phillip Echeverria at the high school or Carol Glassburn will pick them up. She can be reached at (928) 635-4503.

Williams Kiwanis Club seeking food bank donations

The Kiwanis Club is seeking items needed at the food bank. The food bank needs canned vegetables, diapers, laundry detergent, toilet paper, tissues, hand soap, toiletries, peanut butter, canned beans, canned fruit, canned tuna/salmon and cereal. Free firewood

Arizona Game and Fish (AZGFD) has opened the Lamar Haines Wildlife Area for free fuel woodcutting. The area is located off Snow Bowl Road in Flagstaff. A permit must be obtained from AZGFD in Flagstaff prior to cutting.

Fourth annual Scarecrow Contest

The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a scarecrow contest for business owners Oct. 1-30. Business owners need to submit an entry form with the chamber by Sept. 21 to participate. More information is available at (928) 635-0273.

Big Brothers Big Sisters in Williams needs adults

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff is once again matching student "littles" with adult "bigs" in Williams. The group meets every Thursday at Williams Elementary-Middle School from 3:45-5:45 p.m. Students are waiting to be matched with an adult. High School After-Game Gathering Place

Anna's Grand Canyon Cafe in conjunction with Williams Alliance is extending their hours on Friday after home football games. The Alliance is hoping the cafe will provide a safe haven for students wanting to gather after games.

Tops Chapter 0516 meetings will take place Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at Family Harvest Church.

Life After Loss grief support available

Northland Hospice and Palliative Care offers a Life After Loss grief support group every first and third Thursday of the month. The group meets from 4-6 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal-Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grant Ave. The group provides support for those who have experienced the death of a loved one under any circumstance. A Northland Hospice social worker facilitates the meetings and discusses different aspects of grief and coping techniques. The groups are free and registration is not required.
