Canyon resident: three years.

School activities and sports: Four years in volleyball, three years in basketball, one year in track and two years in student council.

Future plans: I plan on attending Northern Arizona University to study nursing.

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation: I will miss playing sports with my teammates and my classmates.

Trevor Hartigan

Canyon resident: Since 2010

Future plans: I plan to go to Northern Arizona University (NAU). I am enrolled in bio-medical track and then I plan to go on to medical school and become a doctor.

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation: The senior class and the Grand Canyon itself. I love hiking the Canyon.

Thanks to: My parents, family and friends.

Awards and scholarships: Full ride to NAU with the Lumberjack Scholarship, American Legion Scholarship.

Jaru Velazquez

Canyon resident: My whole life

School activities and sports: I played soccer and basketball for four years

Future plans: Study business and become rich.

Who, what will I miss the most after graduation: My mom, dad, grandma and my two dogs.

Alex Thompson

Canyon resident: 14 years

School activities and sports: I played soccer and basketball for three years and track for two years.

Future plans: I plan on attending Grand Canyon University or Yavapai Community College for sports medicine to become an athletic trainer or physical therapist.

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation: My friends, family, sleeping in, free food and laundry.

Alyssa Talatzko

Canyon resident: I have lived here my whole life, 18 years.

Future plans: I plan to go to Embry-Riddle in Prescott this fall to study aerospace engineering.

School activities and sports: I played volleyball all of high school, student council since sixth grade, student government and president of my class three-fourths of the year, up to last year.

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation? I will miss my family and friends the most. I will also miss familiar places and knowing the area well...and messing with the tourists and home cooked meals.

Thanks to: My mother and father for helping me get through my life and pushing me to do better.

Awards and scholarships: Lettered in volleyball my junior and senior year, presidential scholarship and woman of excellence scholarship.

Dakota Timeche

Canyon resident: I've lived in Grand Canyon for 17 years, so too long.

School activities and sports: I've played basketball for two years and ran track for one year.

Future plans: I plan to attend UTI and become a mechanic and live in the big city for 10 to 15 years, then move back to the reservation to open a little shop and help keep my culture and traditions going as long as I can.

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation: I'm going to miss my friends who won't be attending college and also this community.

Ashlee Sanderson

Canyon resident: I've lived in Valle my whole life.

School activities and sports: Student council, National Art Honor Society, volleyball for four years, basketball for one year and track for one year.

Future plans: To be a traveling author and photographer and hopefully a volleyball coach. I'm going to go to college in Tucson.

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation: I will miss Ellie Perkins, Jasea Pace, Jo Legaspit and Savannah Perkins.

Thanks to: My parents and family for inspiring me an my teachers for challenging me.

Awards and scholarships: Female athlete of the year, actress of the year, marketing excellence and honor roll.

Tyler Jones

Canyon resident: 18 years

School activities and sports: Basketball, soccer and track

Future plans: I plan on attending Pima Community College, study general education, in state and then transfer to a university.

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation: The Canyon itself

Awards and scholarships: Soccer player of the week from Max Preps. All Section Division IV Section 1 basketball player.

Elyse Moreno

Canyon resident: I've lived at Grand Canyon my whole life, 17 years.

School activities and sports:

Student council for four years and president for one year. High school volleyball four years and captain one year, middle school volleyball manager, varsity boys basketball manager, National Honor Society for two years and vice president for one year. National Society of High School Scholars for two years, board of directors for Grand Canyon Recreation Center for two years, Class vice president for two years and Young Life for one year.

Future plans: I plan on attending Northen Arizona University in the fall of 2015 to study occupational or speech therapy

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation: My family, mom and dad and brother Travis.

Thanks to: My family and all the people who have been here for me and supported me through everything.

Awards and scholarships - Girl's state, RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Volleyball Sportsmanship Award, Grand Canyon School Sportsmanship award, perfect attendance, Grand Canyon Scholar, Lumberjack Scholars Awards.

Denise Summerall

Canyon resident 10 years

School activities and sports: I played basketball my senior year

Future plans: I plan to sudy Social work in the CCC2NAU program in Flagstaff.

Who, what I will miss the most after graduation: High school, middle school and elementary classrooms and hallways because that's where most of the best memories happened. Also the gym, the boy - super silly and made school fun and Alyssa Talatzko.

Thanks to: My mom and dad for making me finish school, Amy McBroom for teaching me life lessons, Alyssa Talatzko for pushing me to be my best and Mason Harris for reminding me how close I am to finishing.

Grand Canyon School High School commencement ceremony and eighth grade promotion will be held May 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the McKee Amphitheater. See pages 3-6B for a look at this year's Grand Canyon School seniors and eighth grade classes.
