Local business owner helps support Student of the Month program
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Local business owner Nimo Patel has been giving back to the community ever since he opened Big Town Hero sandwich shop.
For more than three years, Patel has donated eight free sandwich coupons per month to the Student of the Month program at Williams Elementary-Middle School (WEMS) and Williams High School.
"The kids get happy," he said. "I like it."
Past Students of the Month said it was cool and awesome to get a free sandwich as a reward for their achievements.
WEMS Principal Bryan Lords said Patel's kindness is helpful to the school.
"I love it because at the school we don't have a lot of money to give kids donations or cash gifts, so for Nimo stepping up and giving us cards for not only the elementary middle school but also the high school...it's phenomenal," he said.
WEMS teacher Maya Caldwell, who oversees the Student of the Month Program, said she was grateful for Patel's support of students' academic excellence.
"They are a generous business doing this out of the goodness of their heart and need some recognition," she said. "As the organizer of the Student of the Month Program, I do not know what we would do without their help."
