Grand Canyon National Park celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. day with free entry
Grand Canyon, Ariz. - Grand Canyon National Park is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. day with free entry into the park on Monday, Jan.19.
Visitors are reminded that the fee-free designation applies to entrance fees, commercial tour entrance fees and transportation entrance fees only. It does not affect fees for camping, reservations, guided tours or use of concessions.
Visitors planning to spend time in the park beyond Jan. 19 will need to pay the regular entrance fee for the remainder of their stay.
The Canyon's South Rim sits at approximately 7,000 feet and visitors should be prepared for winter weather and driving conditions and possible road closures and temporary suspension of shuttle service that may occur with little or no notice.
Additional fee-free days will occur in honor of Presidents Day weekend, Feb. 14-16, National Park week, April 18-19, National Park Service birthday, Aug. 25, National Public Lands Day, Sept. 26 and Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
