Grand Canyon announces new hospitality contract on South Rim

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Grand Canyon National Park Superintendent Dave Uberuaga has announced the availability of a proposal for a business opportunity in the park, to provide lodging, food services, retail, transportation, mule rides, and other services on the South Rim.  

The new 15-year contract is one of the largest in the National Park Service in terms of revenue and lodging inventory.

Services in the future contract has generated gross receipts exceeding $66 million.

This historic lodging and hospitality contract (CC-GRCA001-16) will include lodging, retail and food service in the historic Grand Canyon Village including the El Tovar, Bright Angel Lodge, Thunderbird and Kachina Lodges, Maswik Lodge and Phantom Ranch as well as retail and food service at Hermits Rest. 

Additionally, it will continue to include transportation services such as bus tours, taxi service and mule rides. 

A one-day site visit is scheduled for March 5, to allow interested parties an opportunity to see the facilities. To attend the site visit, pre-registration is required, more information or to pre-registrations can be made by contacting Laura Shearin, Grand Canyon National Park, Concessions Management Specialist, at 928-638-7351.

Registration will include the name of your company, a contact phone number, mailing address, email address, and the number of people attending from your organization and need to be made no later than March 2 by 4 p.m.

Concessions contracts are developed and issued under the authority of the Concessions Management Improvement Act of 1998, P.L. 105-391, and its attending regulations in 36 CFR §51. 

All interested parties are encouraged to apply and submit a responsive proposal. The contract will be advertised on the Federal Business Opportunities web site at www.concessions.nps.gov/grca. Responsive proposals must be received by the Intermountain Regional Office by May 20. More information can be obtained by contacting the Chief of Concessions, Intermountain Region at 303-969-2661.
