Letter: Save-MTR ready to start building thanks to community

To the editor:

This is a heartfelt message - kudos to all of you! You, the citizens of this community, have given generously for the last six years to every event SAVE - MTR (SAVE-Meant to Rescue) has put on.

You gave generously, from $1 to $100s and we have as a group protected that building fund diligently. We have now enough to build that building. There is a building committee consisting of me and four other SAVE- MTR members. We are working with a gentleman who will have our blueprints signed and sealed to meet the city council's and city manager's requests. If all goes according to plan, a building should go up in late spring at 1000 E. Ellen Way.

I cannot thank you all enough for your constant support, always positive comments and your smiles. I know I've cajoled every penny from your pockets, stared you down and forced you to participate beyond reason. Thank you for putting up with me, and the courageous handful of volunteers who have constantly worked with me to achieve these goals. We will start the building, but 2016 will be full of fundraising also to support it. It will cost thousands of dollars a year to run the new facility. Costs will include dogs being altered, utilities, insurance, cleaning supplies, veterinary bills, food, office supplies.

Please continue to help the dogs. When you donate to other animal groups, remember also to support your own community. One of the things we will be doing is called a STUD FUND, where you buy a building stud in memory of a pet and they will get their name on a plaque for the walls of the new building. Please keep us in your hearts and prayers.

Thank you, Thank you!
