WILLIAMS, Ariz. - The Williams Clean and Beautiful Committee's next community cleanup day takes place Saturday.

Volunteers should meet in the Williams and Forest Service Visitor Center parking lot at 9 a.m. with their hats and gloves. Williams Clean and Beautiful will provide trash bags.

The main cleanup areas will be around Grand Canyon Boulevard, Rodeo Road, and the cemetery. Residents can also use cleanup day to tidy up areas that aren't on the official route.

Clean and Beautiful Committee member Pimi Barrozo-Bennett said it is important for people to take pride in how Williams looks.

"It's doing our part," she said. "It's the responsible thing to do."

As an incentive to participate, volunteers can be on the lookout for Easter eggs hidden along the cleanup route with coupons for cash prizes.

Sponsors will provide coffee and pastries for volunteers in the morning and soda and water along the cleanup route. A barbecue for volunteers with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and sodas will take place at noon in the Visitor Center parking lot.

Besides the trash pick up, residents can also recycle and dispose of several items on cleanup day.

Household batteries and car size batteries may be dropped off at the Rodeo Barn. Automobile tire disposal takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at the transfer station. Tires must be off the rims and no large truck or off road tires will be accepted. E-waste recycling takes place at the rodeo grounds from 9 a.m. to noon.

Large appliance removal will take place from May 2-9. Residents will receive a voucher in their water bill for the appliance removal. Residents can bring the appliance to the transfer station themselves or schedule one free pickup per household. More information is available from the city at (928) 635-4451.
