Spooky Halloween fun on tap in Williams

WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Williams residents can get in the Halloween spirit through the end of October with haunted attractions, carnivals, zombie gatherings and trick or treating at events throughout town.

Harvest Fest

Heritage Elementary School will put on its annual Harvest Fest featuring fun and games Oct. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. Costumes are allowed.

Games and activities will be set up in each classroom, including face painting, a bean bag toss, arts and crafts, pumpkin bowling and a cake walk. Each activity will require two to three tickets, and tickets will be on sale for 25 cents each. Different classrooms sponsor each booth, and the money they raise goes into each classroom's fund.

"We're just trying to reach out to the community and get more involvement and just to have everyone have a good time," said organizer Christina Hernandez.

Fall Carnival

Williams Elementary-Middle School's third grade class will put on its annual Fall Carnival featuring food, fun and games on Oct. 30 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The event will include a bake sale, prizes, haunted house, cake walk and costume contest.

Trick or Treating

The Williams Recreation Center will offer trick or treating on Oct. 31 from 4 to 10 p.m.

Besides the trick or treating, the event will feature crafts and refreshments.

"It's like a Halloween party," Rec Center Director Rose Newbold said. "Wear your costume and stop in and see us."

Tunnel of Doom

A haunted house, called the Tunnel of Doom, will take place on Oct. 31 when it gets dark at 1099 Alston Way.

Feral Cat Function

The Williams Veterinary Clinic will put on a Halloween Feral Cat Function at the Junction from 7 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 31.

The event will feature the band Six Bricks Thick, a silent auction, costume contest, screaming contest, games, raffles, food and drink. A percentage of food sales will be donated to the feral cat fund. Organizers will also collect cat and dog food at the event.

Zombie Crawl and Prom

Williams' first ever Zombie Crawl will take place Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. on Route 66 to benefit the Williams Food Bank. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items. People dressed as zombies can learn Michael Jackson's Thriller dance and then crawl to the Sultana Theater for a Zombie Prom.

"We're zombifying Williams," said organizer Paige Bruening.

The Zombie Prom takes place at the Sultana Theater. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door and will benefit SAVE-Meant to Rescue. The Zombie Prom will feature music, dancing, food, drinks, and prizes.

"Zombie proms are very fun because you get to dress up as anything you really want," Bruening said. "If you never got to go to a prom, do it as a zombie."
