Obituary: Billy Joyce Aleshire
It is with great sadness we announce that on Oct. 10, 2014 Billy Joyce "Bill" "BJ" Aleshire succumbed to his hard fought battle with a long term illness. He was born Aug. 8, 1947 in Umpire, Arkansas. He was a father, brother, friend and mentor to those who met him and will be missed by all.
Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving proudly and honorably in Vietnam during the height of the war. Being a humble man, he shrugged off praise and thanks for his service saying, "It is what it is," because he considered it his responsibility and not anything special.
To some he was a shoulder to lean on, a voice of guidance or a smile and a hug. To everyone, he was a softhearted man who was always there to help no matter what was needed. His kindness will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Debra Aleshire of Prescott Valley, Arizona; children Billy Joyce Aleshire II of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Greg Wilbur Aleshire of Milwaukie, Oregon, Neal Samuel of Oregon City, Oregon, Jennifer Margaret Rachael Aleshire of San Diego, California, Michael Aaron Aleshire of Milwaukie, Oregon and Misty Jolene Aleshire Lopez of Prescott Valley, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A public graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Williams Cemetery followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Hut.
