Photo: Local chef creates edible holiday cheer
Sous Chef D'Arcy Munger for Kick's on Route 66 restaurant recently created a large gingerbread house for the public to enjoy. The two story house with an attached workshop stands almost two and a half feet tall and is more than three feet long. The house is lit-up and decorated inside with chefs working downstairs, a great room upstairs with beds, a vanity, a fireplace, a sectional sofa, and the garage is filled with busy elves working on a conveyor belt making sleds and teddy bears. About 110 pounds of gingerbread, more than 900 individual pieces of frosted shredded wheat cereal for the roofs, 16 pounds of vanilla and chocolate icing, 4 pounds of chocolate melting chips, 2 packages of vanilla sugar wafers, 6 pounds of Twizzlers licorice for the chimneys and 2 pounds of powdered sugar for snow went into making the house.
