Preparations underway for Memorial Day weekend concert at Babbitt Polson Warehouse Stage

WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Ted Nichols, a Williams resident and former musical director for Hanna Barbera, is gearing up for his second Memorial Day weekend concert in town on May 24.

The free concert will be at noon at the Babbitt Polson Warehouse Stage near the Williams Visitor Center.

Nichols and his wife Catherine are looking for singers to join them in performing in the patriotic concert, called "Celebrate America."

"We invite anyone that wants to sing about God and country," Catherine said.

Rehearsals will start on April 14 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Williams and will continue every Monday until the performance.

The program includes nine songs, some brief narration and lasts about 40 minutes.

The Shepherd's Ambassadors is sponsoring the concert.

Ted and Catherine hope to have a color guard present the flags at this year's event.

Last year, about 26 people sang in the concert.

"The veterans that attended that had tears," Catherine said. "They were very emotional. They just appreciated it so much."

Ted and Catherine hope to have about 40 people involved this year.

"We want to do it to celebrate America, that we are Americans, and we do want to honor our Lord and the veterans," Ted said.

Catherine agreed.

"We are from the generation that really appreciates what our veterans stand for and what they were willing to do," she said.

Ted is a veteran himself, having served in both the Navy and the Air Force.

More information about the concert and getting involved is available from Ted and Catherine at (405) 603-5058.
