Williams Chamber showcases town at Las Vegas convention
Representatives from the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce met with about 30 tourist industry representatives at a recent tourism trade show in Las Vegas to showcase Williams as a unique travel destination.
According to Brand USA, a non-profit association appointed by President Barack Obama to promote travel and tourism in the U.S., in 2013 more than 60 million international visitors will come to the United States. A one percent increase in visitation would result in 500,000 more visitors and a billion dollar boost to the national economy.
The Williams Chamber gave domestic and international media representatives thumb drives with press releases and photos at the International Pow Wow Travel/Trade Show (IPW) June 9-12. The easy-to-use flash-drives are an easy way for members of the media to access information about Williams, making coverage of Williams as a destination more likely.
Chamber staff, along with their public relations firm, is compiling the information that operators, agents and wholesalers requested to plan itineraries later this year and into 2014 and 2015.
Chamber officials said attending the tourism conference is an example of new marketing concepts the chamber is using to gain more exposure for the destination and attract more visitors.
