Golf Tourney nets $2,000 for pool
A golf tournament at the Elephant Rocks Golf Course June 8 raised $2,000 for the Williams Aquatic Center.
The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center were pleased with the turnout. The money raised will help to repair the climate control system, an obstacle to reopening the pool year round.
Golfers got started at 7:30 a.m. for a two-man scramble at the golf course. At noon, golfers and local supporters enjoyed a barbecue of beef brisket, pulled pork and a variety of salads and desserts.
John and Stan Kobierowski claimed first place gross (raw score without handicap). Ken Edges and Steve Jenner won first place net (with handicap).
Paul Brodbeck and Mark Marquez won second place net with a score of 62. Closet to pin challenges took place on the course's par 3 holes, with Chuck Nelson claiming the prize on hole 3. Ken Edges won on holes 12 and 14 and Larry Olson won on hole 18. Steve Jenner claimed the prize for the longest drive, but the $50,000 hole-in-one challenge went unclaimed.
The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center is a 501(c)3 public charity and accepts tax deductible donations year round.
