Around the Canyon: week of June 5

Vacation Bible School comes to the Grand Canyon

From as early as 1894, Vacation Bible School programs have been a mainstay in Christian church tradition, offering children an opportunity during the summer to spend a week playing games, completing crafts and activities and singing songs that are centered on the Bible and Christian teaching.

This year, Grand Canyon Community Church brings the "Sonwest Roundup" program to the Grand Canyon, providing children in Kindergarten to fifth grade an opportunity to spend a week enjoying lively songs, hilarious skits, creative crafts, exciting games, Bible stories and tasty snacks.

Grand Canyon Vacation Bible School will be June 10-14 at the Grand Canyon Recreation Center Ramada from 8:30-11 a.m. and enrollment is free. Parents are invited to join in June 14 at 5 p.m. for a free family barbecue and Vacation Bible School presentations.

Those interesting in pre-registering can contact Kate Maragos at (928) 707-1166 or April Peters at (928) 380-6009, or obtain registration forms at the Grand Canyon Recreation Center.
