Big E Steakhouse to put on New Year's celebration

TUSAYAN, Ariz. - Big E Steakhouse is winding up for a glitzy and glamorous New Year's Eve party with a cowboy twist this holiday season.

Big E Manager Clayann Cook said the evening is not only popular among Tusayan residents, but also visitors who want to ring in the new year at the Grand Canyon. In previous years the event has welcomed guests from France, England and even Australia.

The night kicks off at 7 p.m. with happy hour and a decadent three course dinner is served at 8 p.m. The dance floor opens at 9 p.m., with local band John Rueter and the Horses High playing through midnight. Cook said that Rueter is among the top 20 best pedal steel guitar players in the country, and has played all over the country.

"The band is phenomenal," Cook said. "It's incredible dance music. People who come are going to get to see world class entertainment."

When the clock strikes midnight, guests can participate in a champagne toast while watching the New York ball drop on the restaurant's video wall and enjoying the venue's own balloon drop.

Cook said the event gives people another chance to attend a night out if they missed the Rotary Club's holiday dinner dance because of the weather.

"I've had several people say they didn't get to do their annual dress up," Cook said. "It's just a great night out all around."

The night is family friendly, and children of all ages are welcome. Cook said last year some families danced with their kids almost the entire night.

Organizers ask participants to make reservations, as the event sold out last year. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children younger than 12 years old. Reservations can be made by visiting www.BigESteakhouse.com or by calling (928) 638-0333. Big E Steakhouse is located on 395 State Route 64, Tusayan.
