City of Williams hires new finance director
Fittingly, Keith Buonocore started his job as finance director for the city of Williams on April 15 - tax day.
As the finance director, Buonocore will handle the city's budget, year-end data, and compliance issues with bonds, loans and grants.
Buonocore is a certified public accountant and has a master's degree in accounting.
"My whole career of 30 years I've been doing accounting, finance, auditing," he said. "So this fits right in with that. I enjoy doing that."
Prior to coming to Williams, Buonocore worked as the senior auditor for the Lee County Clerk of Court in Fort Myers, Fla.
"It was auditing the whole county basically, so it gives me a good background, and I get to know pretty much everything that goes on from the bottom level all the way up to the top," he said. "So it gives me very good experience for this."
Buonocore, who is from Tucson, said he is happy to be in Williams.
"Arizona always seems like home because that was (where) my kind of adult years started," he said.
The city council interviewed Buonocore in a special meeting March 29.
Julie Walker, who served as interim finance director, will return to her previous position of accountant.
Joe Duffy resigned as city of Williams finance director July 19, 2012.
