Stilo Group gives progress report to Tusayan council
Camper Village expected to house residents by end of November
TUSAYAN, Ariz - It's been almost a year since Tusayan entered into a development agreement with Stilo Group. On Oct. 17, the Italian developer provided a progress report at Tusayan Town Council regular meeting.
Stilo hopes to have residents in interim housing at Camper Village by the end of November and is partnering with Blue Ribbon Homes out of Flagstaff for marketing.
Interim Town Manager Tami Ryall noted from Stilo's letter that the developers are in the mobilization phase of the environmental impact application, "where they will be doing all their fact finding and collection of data." They report they've had their pre-application meetings and are working towards the public scoping process.
"The exact timing is left to the Forest Service, we didn't have any indicator from this letter of what the exact time is," Ryall said. "It's predicated on the completeness of the submittals turned in."
As far as locating the all-important water source, Stilo has applied for a "number of extensions" from the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC). The Forest Service estimates the process will be completed in the next 15 months.
"It's still not completely well defined," Ryall said. "They don't see the CC&N issue causing any particular concern, as the ACC resolution is likely to be resolved well ahead of any reviews contemplated in the federal process."
The council's next meeting on Nov. 7 will be a public hearing on zoning code changes recommended by Tusayan's Planning and Zoning Commission.
