Controlled burn continues near Tusayan
Forest Service plans to wrap up Tusayan South prescribed fire today
TUSAYAN, Ariz. - The Tusayan South Prescribed Fire continues today as crews plan to ignite 125 acres south of Grand Canyon Airport and west of State Highway 64.
Fire crews completed about 120 acres on the project yesterday.
The weather forecast predicts warm, dry conditions and light northwest winds during today's operations. The wind direction will help move smoke away from Tusayan and the airport.
These ongoing efforts help reduce hazardous fuels and improve forest health south of Tusayan. No more prescribed burning is planned for the Tusayan Ranger District this week.
