Moore will continue as mayor for two more years
Incumbent garners 66 percent of vote
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Williams residents voted to retain incumbent Mayor John Moore for another two years in yesterday's primary election. Challenger - and former Williams Mayor Ken Edes - secured 218 votes and Moore 439 votes, or 66 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results released by the Coconino County Elections Office.
Williams Councilmen Frank McNelly and Jim Wurgler retained their seats as well. McNelly was a voter favorite with 488 votes, or nearly 31 percent. Wurgler secured 470 votes, with nearly 30 percent. Challengers Bobby Patricca and Craig Fritsinger received 314 and 297 votes, respectively. Fritsinger and Patricca will face off in the May 15 general election.
Of the 1,649 registered voters, 679 cast their ballots for a 41 percent turnout. The deadline to register to vote in the May 15 election is April 16. Early ballots will be mailed April 19. To register, visit servicearizona.com.
