Work on the West Cataract reservoir project is progressing rapidly with the actual construction of the dam almost ready to begin. The 44-acre area is almost cleared, leaving only some rockwork to be completed. The reservoir when full will cover slightly less than 44 acres, as a strip extending 50 feet back from the high water line is included in the lake area.
50 years ago March 14, 1962
Monday evening Mrs. Jerry Soto and Mrs. Angie Martinez co-hosted a benefit party for Mrs. Anna Romero whose home was destroyed by fire last month. The party was held at Mrs. Soto's home, and guests brought monetary donations to aid Mrs. Romero in replacing possessions lost in the fire. Games were played, and refreshments of sandwiches, salad, relishes, cake, cookies, punch and coffee were served.

If you like good Mexican food, don't forget the annual Enchilada Dinner, sponsored by the St. Therese Club this Sunday. The dinner will be held at the Community Methodist Hall. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any church members, or they may be purchased at the door Sunday.
