WILLIAMS, Ariz. - American Flyer Coffee Co. recently opened its doors with new ownership, locals Eric and Donya Hadder, who can't wait to breathe new life into the establishment with a variety of fresh unique ideas.

"We've wanted to do something like this for 10 years," Eric Hadder said. "The timing was right."

The Hadders said most of the credit goes to previous owners, Brad and Kara Richmann, for helping them make such a smooth changeover.

"It's been very encouraging for us on so many different levels to see our ideas come to fruition," Donya Hadder said. "If it hadn't been for Brad and Kara helping us transition into this position I don't know what we'd do. We are extremely grateful to them."

They hope to turn American Flyer, located on 326 West Route 66, into not just a place to get coffee, but a community social hotspot for live music, community events, meetings and activities.

"We also are booking bands like crazy and you should expect to see multiple nights of the week packed with live music in the future," Hadder said.

Every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., American Flyer will be hosting "kid's club," offer story time and activities to a range of young ages. This Saturday, they'll be throwing Dr. Seuss a big birthday bash, the following Saturday they'll celebrate St. Patrick's Day and on March 24, Flagstaff children's musician and entertainer Chuck Cheeseman will host "Dancing With No Shoes On."

"We want this place to be saturated with events where people can come if they say, 'huh I'm bored. Well, the Flyer always has something going on, what do they have going on today?'" Hadder said.

And something's always happening in American Flyer's kitchen, too. The couple has already started expanding their breakfast menu and plans to eventually build up lunch options by the middle of the month. New dessert options will also be available. But that doesn't mean their Single Speed coffee is going anywhere. It will still be roasted on the premises.

Coupled with the community atmosphere of the espresso bar, American Flyer also has a fully functioning bike repair shop at the rear of the building offering competitive rates for tune-ups, ordering parts and even complete bikes.
