Williams Chamber attends International Pow Wow in LA
Power of travel and tourism were key motivators for those in attendance
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce attended the International Pow Wow Travel/Trade Show in Los Angeles April 22-25. International Pow Wow is made possible by the U.S. Travel Association each year to bring together U.S. destinations with international tour operators, wholesalers, agents and media.
While at Pow Wow, U.S. Secretary of Commerce John Bryson spoke at a luncheon meeting sharing statistics for travel and the economic impact tourism has on the country. In 2011, 62 million international visitors contributed more than $153 billion into the national economy. He also made a point of mentioning that, "tourism is America's number one service export."
The power of travel and tourism were the key motivators for the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce attending Pow Wow. The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce met with more than 20 representatives to showcase Williams as a destination. Operators and agents showed keen interest in the uniqueness of Williams as a new overnight, day trip, or meal location for upcoming tours and itinerary options. International media representatives will be sharing press releases and content supplied by the Chamber on high-tech flash-drives, to their readers, website visitors, and television viewers. These easy to use flash-drives provide the media with photos, press releases, and general Williams information available at the click of a mouse, making coverage of Williams as a destination more likely.
The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce staff and Public Relations/Marketing Firm, Front Burner Media, are now hard at work compiling the information that operators, agents and wholesalers have requested for planning itineraries later this year and into 2013 and 2014.
Attending International Pow Wow is one example of the new marketing concepts the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce has put into place to gain more exposure for the destination and attract more visitors.
