Items stolen include guns and electronics
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Coconino County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) deputies are investigating multiple burglaries of recreational travel trailers left unattended on forest service land.
On Sept. 8, deputies responded to Forest Service Roads 125, 124, and 9489K for reports of forced entry and burglaries of at least six RVs and toy haulers. All of the trailers were unoccupied at the time. Items stolen included guns, electronics, and other valuables. The burglaries are believed to have occurred between the evening of Sept. 7 and the morning of Sept. 8.
Anyone with information about these burglaries or information about suspicious activities, persons, or vehicles in these areas or elsewhere on the forest is encouraged to call CCSO at (928) 774-4523, select option 1 for Dispatch.
Anyone that has an unattended trailer on public land is encouraged to check it as soon as possible.
CCSO offers the following tips, which could reduce vulnerability to vehicle/trailer burglaries -
Lock all the vehicle's doors and windows and don't leave the vehicle unattended for extended periods of time.
Don't leave valuables inside an unoccupied vehicle.
Turn on alarm or anti-theft devices when leaving.
Mark all valuables. Maintain a record of makes, models, and serial numbers and engrave valuables with a personal identifier.
Report suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles immediately to CCSO at (928) 774-4523 or call 911.
Anyone that is the victim of a burglary should report it to CCSO immediately. Do not touch/adjust anything in, on, or around the vehicle until advised by law enforcement that it is alright to do so.
