WILLIAMS - The Williams Food Bank is sponsoring the annual community Easter egg hunt with the city of Williams, to be held Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Recreation Center and Skate Park.

"This will be the third year we are sponsoring the event and we are planning on having more fun than ever," Food Bank Director Guy Mikkelsen said. "This year walking toddlers will go down the bunny trail to visit the Easter bunny and get their goodies, much like they do to see Santa at Christmas."

Along with the Easter bunny, the Cataract Creek Gang and the Bearizona mascot will be present to join in the fun.

There will also be egg hunts for the 4-6 and 7-9 age groups with candy and a prize for all participants. Children 4-9 years-old will be given a chance to win one of six new bikes they have to raffle. Plus, tots can also enter a free raffle for a 'cozy coupe' car.

Williams youth should bring their own Easter basket to collect candy and prizes, but the Food Bank will also have some on hand for children who do not have one.

"There will be fun games to play and win more candy or prizes following the egg hunts, including the outrageously fun chocolate syrup squirt," Mikkelsen said. "Our youth deserve the best and we hope to see them all there for the most fun Easter Eggstravaganza ever."

There will be food and drinks for everyone as well. There is no fee for the event.

Easter Food Drive

The Food Bank has started collecting for their Easter food drive. There are collection bins in Safeway and Family Dollar.

"We can always use food donations and right now we are also looking for new toys for this year's Community Easter Eggstravaganza."

The Williams Food Bank, which has been in operation since 2004, provides food to local residents in need all year round, helping to feed about 180 families, two times a month on Fridays. The Food Bank looks like a miniature grocery store. "Shoppers" walk through the store pulling items off the shelves.

Mikkelsen said they have given away over a million pounds of free food and supplies to hundreds of families since they began.

"We have accomplished this by the grace of God and the generosity and involvement of our community," he said.

Anyone wishing to get involved by volunteering or making a donation can call Guy or Angie Mikkelsen at 607-6421 or 607-7915.

The Williams Food Bank is a qualified 501c3 charity and donations are tax deductible.
