Letter: News reporting is demeaning to our country

To the editor:

The maniac that shot 19 people in Tucson is the most disgusting thing that the lowlife could do to attract as much attention as possible. What disappoints me even more is the response of the entire country to this idiot's 15 minutes of fame. If you don't have the sense that God gave a dead goose and you want to be famous, grab a gun and shoot as many people as possible and you will be famous beyond your wildest dreams.

The good sheriff stated that it's a different country than where he grew up. Well, I grew up in the same country at the same time and I disagree wholeheartedly about the type of country it is. We had heroes back then that received all of the adoring praise and attention. We had drop-outs, thieves, rapists, killers and idiots that did not receive that much attention because the media did not chose to glorify the scum in our society in repetitious detail as they do today.

We had lowlife just as we do today. Our media just didn't chose to glorify them. Our paper, radio and TV (the ruination of our news media) would report it and let it die a natural death. But today, they have an agenda to destroy the America that was created by our Constitution. We will be inundated with this event in minute detail for months. We won't even know the names of the heroes that stopped this nut because they are unimportant and do not fit the agenda of the people that want to destroy the image of this country.

They will go to unimaginable lengths to glorify this event so they can once again, condemn guns and American's obsession with them. Never mind that guns are singled out in our Constitution to always be available to our countryman. They don't like them and they will do anything to pass laws to ban them. It is one of the many goal's they have instead of reporting the real news of the day about the glories of this country and all the accomplishments of its citizens. When the majority of the news that is reported everyday is demeaning to the country and its citizens, is it any wonder that we are blamed for all problems in the world?
