Miss Sally Southworth celebrated her eighth birthday today by inviting 10 of her friends in for birthday cake and games. Friends invited included Katherine Mayes, Marjorie Tissaw, Jean Cox, Betsy Sanders, Gerry Hanson, Alice Faye Burrage, Bobby Dean, David Russell, Arlyn Cureton and Kate Fuller.
50 years ago April 13, 1961
Cordova Post American Legion and Auxiliary will hold a card social April 22 for benefit of the swimming pool. The public is invited and card players especially are asked to attend and enjoy an evening of their favorite game. Sandwiches and coffee will be available throughout the evening.
35 years ago April 15, 1976
The annual Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Williams Elks Lodge will definitely be held this year come sunshine or rain, according to a spokesman for Grand Bunny Frank Mason. The hunt will get under way at 2 p.m. up the hill by the filter plant. All children in the community are invited to attend.
