Ponderosa Fire hires firefighter
Jeremiah "J.T." McDermott smiles following a badge pinning ceremony Sept. 18 at Ponderosa Fire Department (PFD). The PFD hosted an open house and badge pinning ceremony for McDermott, who was hired on Aug 16 as a firefighter. McDermott is state certified as an emergency medical technician, firefighter I and II, and will be receiving additional extensive training in the next few months as part of the recruit training process. McDermott has past experience as a volunteer with the Summit Fire Department and is attending Coconino Community College to obtain his fire science degree. He is married and has two sons.
