Authorities from the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office have identified the body of 12-year-old Lexis Roberts through dental records.

HARRISON, La. - A 12-year-old girl reported missing on Sept. 8 was found dead Oct. 8 in a wooded area north of Harrisonburg, La. Hunters discovered the body of Lexis K. Roberts of Las Vegas, Nev. Authorities confirmed her identity through dental records. The Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office is continuing that portion of this investigation.

On Sept. 8, a family member spoke with representatives of the Coconino County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) to report 31-year-old Suellen Roberts and her 12-year-old daughter Lexis as missing persons. According to the caller, Suellen and Lexis left Las Vegas on Sept. 4, and were in the company of 53-year-old Thomas Steven Sanders, also of Las Vegas. Sanders is described as a co-worker and friend of Suellen's. It is believed that the three visited the Williams, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon National Park areas during the Labor Day Weekend. The three were last seen at Bearizona Sept. 4, where they signed a guest register. None of the three missing individuals have been seen or heard from since.

CCSO has partnered with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, the Grand Canyon National Park Service and the U.S. Marshall's Service in an effort to locate the three missing persons. The DPS air rescue helicopter conducted observation flights in the area between Williams and the Grand Canyon. Following the discovery and identification of Lexis Roberts' body the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office have joined the investigation.

Suellen Roberts and Sanders have not been located and are still considered missing persons. The vehicle they were in is also still outstanding.
