The volunteer fire department was called out shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday to extinguish a blaze in the kitchen of the Coffee Pot. When the firemen arrived they discovered the threat was merely some grease ablaze on the stove, so stood guard while the blaze exhausted its fuel.

Oct. 27, 1960
Small school children are warned daily by police to be careful in crossing the streets. The police warning to Williams children came on top of reports that younger children especially, run across the streets on their way to and from school without looking in either direction to see if cars are approaching.

Oct. 30, 1975
Dinner was served to 112 people Saturday evening when the annual Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce banquet was held at the Elks Lodge. Gov. Raul Castro was a special guest and spoke briefly to the group before turning his time over to the main speaker, Mona Smith from the Arizona Department of Tourism.
