Celebrate New Orleans-style Dec. 11 at the El Tovar
Rotary's Holiday Dinner Dance begins at 6 p.m.
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Members of Grand Canyon's Rotary on the Rim Club are busy planning this year's Holiday Dinner Dance, an annual tradition. The dinner/dance begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at the El Tovar. This year's theme is "Mardi Gras Fun," in honor of the Rotary International Convention, which will be held in May in New Orleans.
Eight members of the local club plan to attend the International Convention, according to co-organizer Dean Norris.
"Mardi Gras-themed costumes are encouraged," Norris said. "The menu this year will be special, featuring New Orleans food."
Local favorite Exit 64 will provide music. The evening of dinner, silent auctions, door prizes and raffles will also include costumes. Participants should dress in Mardi Gras' finiest with costumes, masks, beads and more.
This fun-filled evening is the major fundraiser for the local Rotary Club, who uses these funds to provide humanitarian service in our local community, state, nation and worthy world-wide efforts like the eradication of polio, wheelchairs for the disabled, and clean drinking water in under-developed countries.
Come join in an evening filled with live music, terrific food, and fun for all. Participation will help the Grand Canyon Rotary Club and Rotary International provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
The purchase of one dinner dance ticket or raffle ticket helps everyone. Dinner tickets are available from any Grand Canyon Rotarian. Tickets can also be obtained via e-mail through Dean Norris at deannor@aol.com or (480) 678-9979 or Sharyl Allen at sallen@grandcanyonschool.org or (928) 638-2461. The Holiday Dinner Dance typically sells out in advance, according to organizers. Raffle tickets are also available from Rotarians or by e-mailing Norris. Buyers of raffle tickets need not be present to win one of over 50 luxurious prizes. Raffle tickets are also available at the Grand Canyon General Store at Market Plaza, at the Rotary table. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5.
