WILLIAMS - This year's Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Williams Food Bank, will be held 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday at the Williams Recreation Center, 301 W. Railroad Ave. Event organizers, Guy and Angie Mikkelsen, invite everyone to enjoy the event, rain or shine.

Guy Mikkelsen said there will be some fun additions to this year's event.

"We're planning to give away some bicycles," he said.

Raffle tickets for the bikes will be in goodie bags given to children in the older age groups with three girls bikes and three boys bikes given away.

All children in the 0-3 age group will receive a Wiggles DVD set.

All in the community are welcome to participate in the event free of charge.

Three egg hunts will be done in the youngest to oldest order. The three age groups include walking children through age 3; ages 4 to 6; and, 7 to 9 year olds. The event is BYOB; bring your own basket.

"The two older age groups will all be getting a coupon for a free pizza from Peter Piper," Mikkelsen said.

After the egg hunt, an all-ages game "zone" with baseball and football throws will be offered.

Another feature offered in the "zone" will be the pie throw/chocolate syrup squirt. All attendees will be invited to throw a pie and squirt a two-foot tube full of chocolate syrup at a willing volunteer.

Following the egg hunts, the "zone" and race areas will be open as well as the inside of the rec center, where a table with coloring and foam crafts will be available along with face painting. Mikkelesen said there will likely be a duck pond for younger kids as well.

A free picnic lunch including hot dogs and baked beans will be available.

"There will also be more kid style food on hand like corn dogs and pizza rolls," Mikkelesen said.

Mikkelsen said he has received tremendous support from Rose Newbold and the recreation center along with support from local resident Carol Glassburn. He went on to say that he is still looking for volunteers to make the event a success.

"It took about 40 volunteers last year to make it all happen," he said. "We're looking for volunteers and sponsors."
