Little Leaguers head to All-Star tourney

WILLIAMS - Williams Little League will be sending five teams to all-star tournaments this year.

The baseball division will send a 9-10-year-old team made up of players from the four teams in the Williams Little League major program. There are three teams from Williams (D'Backs, Dodgers, and Yankees) and one from Ash Fork (Cubs). The all-star players were announced on Tuesday. The team will travel to Cottonwood for their games. Their first game will be against Wickenburg on Tuesday.

The11-12-year-old all-stars from the same teams as above will travel to Chino Valley for their games. The Williams team drew a bye in the first round of the tournament and will play the winner of the Bagdad/Wickenburg game on Wednesday July 7.

The 13-14-year-old all-stars also start their tournament on July 6 in Camp Verde. The team is scheduled to start play on July 7 against Camp Verde.

In the softball division, Seligman girls won the softball championship and traveled to Prescott Valley to play in the Tournament of Champion games June 13. The girls came away from the tourney victorious. Gabe Alvarado and Shelby Burch coached the TOC team and the Williams all-star team this year. The softball all-star team will play their tournament in Prescott Valley. The tournament will start July but the team drew a bye in the first round and will begin play on July 7. Their opponent will be the winner of the Prescott Valley/Wickenburg game.
