An evening of fun during hard times
Comedy, motivational speaking on tap for June 23
WILLIAMS - Yes I Can, Inc. and the National Judges Association will present an evening of motivational speaking and comedy June 23.
The event billed as "An Evening of Fun During Hard Times" will be held at Doc Holliday's beginning at 9 p.m. Comedian Carlos Oscar will make his second appearance in Williams along with motivational speaker Judge Tommy Webb and former NFL player Ray Perkins.
Bill Sutton, president of Yes I Can, Inc., and Conference Chair for the National Judges Association event said the evening will be adult oriented but is suitable for children if accompanied by an adult.
"Carlos Oscar is one of the funniest comedians I've ever seen," Sutton said. "When he was in Williams last fall, the people loved him. And best of all, he's a family comedian who parents and their kids can be comfortable listening to together. This event is geared more towards adults, but certainly youth can come with their parents or a responsible adult."
Tickets are available at Brown Bag Sandwich Shoppe and American Flyer. Tickets are $15 each, or $25 per couple.
"These are all quality speakers," he said. "Oscar has been on Jay Leno and Comedy Central. Williams can be proud that we have this available to us. We expect to sell out. Get your tickets early if you want to go, and be there when doors open at 8:30."
According to Sutton, Judge Tommy Webb speaks all over the United States. A Korean War child, Webb doesn't know what day his actual birthday falls on. He plans to share his inspirational story of being raised on the streets, overcoming adversity and finally becoming a Kansas judge and a national motivational speaker.
The event's final speaker, Ray Perkins, played in the NFL for the Cowboys, Cardinals, and Browns. He tells an inspirational story of growing up on the streets of Richmond, Va, resisting drugs, gangs and violence and channeling his energy toward more positive sports direction. Perkins later went on to earn a Ph.D. and is now Dr. Ray Perkins.
