Early voting begins Thursday for JoP election
Candidate questions and answers featured below
WILLIAMS - After nearly 20 years on the bench, Bill Sutton will hang up his Justice of the Peace robe, a move that has prompted six candidates to seek the office he leaves behind.
Andrew Hamby, Danny Harness, Rob Krombeen, Annie Shumway, Wade Simon and Dennis Wells, all Republican candidates, are campaigning for the judgeship.
As all the candidates are registered in the same political party, the Aug. 24 primary election will likely determine what candidate will fill the post. The Williams Justice Court precinct covers a wide geographic region from Supai through Grand Canyon and Tusayan and south of Williams and Parks.
Early voting begins Thursday and early ballots can be requested from the Coconino County Elections Office. The last day to request an early ballot by mail is Aug. 13. The last day to vote early in person is Aug. 20. For more information, contact the elections office at (928) 779-6589.
