Annual Chamber luncheon rescheduled for today

Organizers with the Grand Canyon Chamber and Visitors Bureau will hold their annual members luncheon today. The luncheon will be held at the Best Western Grand Canyon Squire Inn, located in Tusayan, beginning at noon. Cost for the luncheon is $10 per person. Reservations for the event are required. Grand Canyon Alcoholics Anonymous meetings

Members of the Grand Canyon chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous meet three times weekly at the South Rim. The group meets Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays in the Kachina Room of Kachina Lodge. Meetings for the group, which has been in existence at the Grand Canyon for 15 years, begin at 7 p.m.

Booths available for winter festival

Booths are currently available for Saturday's winter festival at the Grand Canyon Recreation Center. The festival is hosted by the Kaibab Learning Center. Anyone interested in raising money for their organization is encouraged to reserve a booth now. Spaces are also available for festival games and local arts and crafts. Table costs are $10 each. Table set up begins at 2 p.m. The festival will run from 5-8 p.m. For more information on booths and the festival, call Lisa at (928) 606-5067.

Musical fun for the whole family

All children are musical. Music Together's classes are tons of fun and can help your child develop to his/her full musical potential. Children age birth through five and their parents/caregivers experience songs, instrument play, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful setting with no performance pressure. Participants also receive a songbook, parent guide booklet, semi-annual newsletter, and two professionally recorded CDs for more family fun at home.

Winter semester classes run for eight weeks, through March 4. Each semester features a new collection of songs and activities. This winter dancers will boogie to the Drum Collection.

Registration for winter semester is now in progress. Save money and secure your family's spot in class by registering early. Scholarships are available for those who can't afford tuition. National Parks documentary to screen at Rec Center

The Grand Canyon Recreation Center will screen Ken Burns "The National Parks: America's Best Idea" throughout January and February. Refreshments will be provided for each screening. Each episode will begin at 6:30 p.m. Episode three will be held tonight. Episode four will be held Feb. 3. Episode five will be held Feb. 10 and the final episode will screen Feb. 17.

Yoga classes and more at Grand Canyon Rec Center

The Grand Canyon Rec Center offers a number of great activities for residents of the Grand Canyon and Tusayan, including Yoga classes and more. Tuesday night flow classes are offered from 5:45-7 p.m. and cost anywhere from $10 for a drop in class to $50 for an eight class package. Beginning Yoga with Jennifer is offered Wednesdays from 5:45-7 p.m. A night class is offered for donations on Sundays beginning at 5 p.m. A kids' Yoga workshop is offered on select Fridays. Other rec center classes include free Falun Dance classes each Sunday from 6-7:30 p.m., Zumba from 6-7 p.m., line dancing beginning at 6 p.m. and tap dance and ballet. The rec center can be contacted at (928) 638-3389 for more information.

Open gym basketball

Open gym basketball is held each Sunday at the Grand Canyon School from 7-9 p.m. Individuals who wish to participate must be over 16-years-old and wear non-marking athletic shoes. For the program to continue, officials advise that all rules of the Grand Canyon Recreation Center and the Grand Canyon School be followed at all times.

Super Bowl party on tap for Rec Center

Organizers for a Feb. 7 Super Bowl party will hold the event at the Grand Canyon Recreation Center. The big game will be offered on a big screen and complimentary pizza and wings will be served while supplies last. For more information, contact the rec center at (928) 638-3389.

Movies at the GC Rec Center

Free lemonade and popcorn are offered during the Grand Canyon Recreation Center's movie times. On Friday, the Rec Center will screen "Gamer" (PG-13) beginning at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Rec Center will screen "Tarzan" beginning at 10 a.m.
